Underlings - Centurion EP

We were in San Diego last saturday visiting some relatives so I decided to stop by at Lou's Records, probably the last remaining independent record store in San Diego. That place never ceased to amaze me everytime I visit, one thing I'll always remember is the time I got my copy of Wallflowers Thank You twelvers for less than 3 bucks! That weekend was no exemption, I found this gem in the 99 cents bin. The cover looks odd that made me curious so I checked the record label and its from Midnight Music, label that has a good track record in my book. Releases from artists such as The Essence, Sad Lovers and Giants and Snake Corps you just can't go wrong with the label. So I played it right after we got home and all I can say is they've proven the label's consistency of releasing exceptionally good post-punk music.

Ups And Downs - The Living Kind EP

You'll know a band is truly underground when you can't even find their infos in Wikipedia or Google search result for that matter. I did able to find bits from their Myspace page. These lads are from Brisbane, Australia and Aussies got their share of legit indiepop bands with Hummingbirds and The Lucksmiths to name a few. If you're a sucker for jangly pop guitar this is a definite must hear.

Blow Up - World EP

I've posted the Blow Up's debut single Good For Me some time in the early part of my postings and because I've acquired two more of their later singles I've decided to repost it again along with the new ones. This is one of the Creation Records' group that didn't make it to the limelight but made a significant contribution to the label and indiepop scene.

This Picture - Naked Rain EP

Getting an i5 processor laptop was such a disappointment. There's constant hanging whenever I try to rip songs from my vinyls. Good thing my wife needed a laptop herself, now I got reason to get another one that could handle my needs. Knowing Apple will be upgrading their MacBook Pro pretty soon, I've deprived myself from recording my vinyls for months, patiently waiting for the new version to be released. Finally Apple come up with this new Retina display technology that means there would be a drastic markdown on their slightly older version of MacBook Pro. Who needs a Retina display, I'm no graphic artist. As long as its quad core i7, not only it will get the job done but I will save myself a grand! To cut the long story short, I got the non-Retina one for myself and it works like a charm.

This post brings you 20 something years back, during the time when KROQ used to be cool. Some of you might recognize the song if you were listening to 106.7fm back in the early 90s. The first time I've heard it I thought it was U2. This is one of the 90s songs that's worth remembering about.

Pains Of Being Pure At Heart - Belong 7"

A girl vocal indie pop band from the big apple. This 7" is their recent release from Slumberland Records, a label who have released numerous quality indie pop singles from Boyracer, 14 Iced Bears, Lilys and Liechtenstein to mention a few.

Fauna - Pretty 7"

This one is an experimental 49 cents 7" and amazingly they sounded like Moose. Very few bands sounds like old school shoegazers that's why this record really caught my attention. The guy who probably sold the Singapore Sling must have sold this one too as both records have similar style although completely different in terms of creativity. By the way I will be gradually transferring my blog site to a different domain. The content would not be music specific but will cater my interests in general. I have posted some pictures from my droid and written some short journals already. Here's the link: http://shoegazerblog.wordpress.com/. Comments are highly appreciated!

Singapore Sling - Song For The Spirit 7"

After another long hiatus I'm back in the blogosphere and man do i miss this. I have another good excuse this time why I've been absent for so long. I've had my Xone 3D mixer diagnosed. After a month in the shop it came to a verdict that I would need to replace the whole board because they couldn't find the specific problem. I was able to purchase a replacement in the form of Traktor S4, the first true analog/digital mixer in the market. I've been now digitizing my new vinyls with ease!

To all the followers of nu-gaze, Singapore Sling is no stranger to you. But to those of you who don't know them, don't let their name mislead you. They are not from Singapore at all, these guys are from Iceland. I believe they got their name from a type of cocktail drink, I could be wrong. This particular song reminds me so much of JAMC's Blues From A Gun.

The Haywains - Bobbie Gentry's Tears (7" 4-Track EP, 2015 Dufflecoat Records)

Got this along with other bunch of records from a small indie store in Seattle. Quite honestly I fell in love with the cover art when I firs...
